CFDG Influencing
CFDG leads on promoting public confidence in the management of charities. We work to ensure that our members lead the way in implementing good practice in financial management.
We seek to influence and keep members informed of legislative change and increase our impact and profile through our policy and campaigning activities.
Our policy work involves promoting our members' views to decision makers and opinion formers across a wider variety of organisations. CFDG responds on behalf of our members to policy initiatives and consultation papers affecting the charity finance role. We are represented on a variety of policy working groups in and around Government and the Charity Commission.
When appropriate, we work closely with other organisations in developing and promoting our policy work. We have been particularly active in Government reviews on charity tax reform, modernising charity law and in preparing Budget submissions.
We play a key role in the development of the Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) for charity financial reporting and are represented on the SORP Review team. We are also represented on a variety of policy-making committees including committees of the Accounting Standards Board and Auditing Practices Board.
As a membership organisation, it is vital that CFDG's policy and campaigning activity reflects the needs, views and knowledge of our members. We are keen to ensure that our members have every opportunity to engage in our policy work and this can be done through occassional consultation meetings and seminars, as well as through our Policy Development Working Group. Please contact Ernese Skinner for more details or alternatively if you have a policy issue that you would like to raise.
