CFDG runs ad-hoc surveys among the membership to assess trends and opinions in the sector and works with the media to get issues heard throughout the sector.

We always encourage our members to have their say in the sector.

June 2008 - Mergers and Financial Stability

CFDG has entered into a relationship with CASS Business School in which CASS Charity MSc students take on projects suggested by CFDG as research topics for part of their MSc studies. This will help us to get further insight into some of the issues facing the sector today and build up the research pool for our work. Once such piece of work is looking at whether or not mergers in the voluntary sector provide financial stability for voluntary organisations.

I should be grateful if you could find time to download the survey which should take less than 5 minutes to complete and then e-mail your completed questionnaire to jill.penn@btopenworld.com. We hope to be sharing the results of this research work with you towards the end of the year.

February 2008 - Financial Thresholds

CFDG has designed a short survey to gauge members' views on the main proposals in the Financial Thresholds consultation issued by the Office of the Third Sector and the Charity Commission. Your contribution to this survey is most appreciated as it will give us information to base our response on. The survey is only 12 questions long and should take no longer than 5 minutes.

This joint consultation by the Office of the Third Sector and the Charity Commission, looks at the regulatory and reporting thresholds in the various Charities Acts. CFDG would very much like to hear your views or receive copies of your own submissions to inform our response to this consultation.

There are two areas in this consultation that we believe members may want to explore in more depth and we would welcome any views and comments on the threshold for preparation of accrual accounts and in addition the threshold for auditing accounts.
