Charities and Risk

Risk analysis is central to charity management. As governance and accountability towards all stakeholders evolve as key issues for charities, it is of utmost importance for Finance Directors to be aware of risk across all levels of their organisations. Staffing, trusteeship, business continuity, reputation - all major risks that need different approaches if they are to be managed properly. Each charity has a different risk profile and this conference will help find ways to identify yours and what to do about it.
Now the SORP requires Trustees to report on risk in their Annual Reports and part of the audit is to confirm risk has been assessed this focussed event provides essential learning and guidance for everyone.

With the Risk Conference 2004 CFDG intends
· to raise the profile of charities’ risk management and the problems they are facing
· to educate our membership about risk and share good practice guidelines
· to encourage increased dialogue in the sector about risk, and between charities and supplier organisations

About the CFDG Risk Conference

The CFDG Risk Conference is an established conference, which CFDG has offered to its members for a number of years. Due to internal restructuring, CFDG took a year out from organising the conference in 2003 - we wanted to be able to revise and update the format of the conference and give members the chance to attend a truly forward-looking event.
Our members’ feedback has been that there is a need for a forum in which to look at different aspects of risk and risk management. Consequently, CFDG is now introducing the new-style risk conference and hopes this can make an efective contribution to the dialogue about risk withing the charity sector.

The Reception

Delegates attending the conference are also invited to attend an informal drinks reception immediately following the end of the risk conference. The reception is kindly supported by Keegan & Pennykid Insurance Brokers and provides the ideal opportunity to network with speakers and delegates at the end of the day.
