The programme for IT RISKS & REWARDS is outlined below. There are two Plenary sessions open to all delegates and a further four sessions with a choice of two streams. In this session Martyn will look at data security, data leakage prevention, and some of the information security threats that charities may face.

In this session, Kevin will look at the challenge of calculating the return on IT investments, with a focus on how IT systems are seen to add value rather than just be a cost!

2A: E-BANKING: A PRACTITIONER’S VIEW

In this session, Peter will examine charities’ slow uptake of e-banking, fears about safety and security; the growth in charitable usage of online banking systems and electronic payments vs. cheques – what does the future look like?

2B: WHAT INFORMATION DOES THE BOARD NEED? GETTING BOARD LEVEL SUPPORT FOR AN IT STRATEGY

How does your Board of Trustees view information technology? An overhead cost to be minimised? A dark art which is difficult to engage with? Or an asset to enable strategic delivery? In this session David will explore the topic of getting senior management and trustee engagement when developing an information systems strategy, and look at some of the potential benefits, challenges and pitfalls of leading the strategic process.

In this session, Ian will be talking about what IT disaster recovery is & why it’s so essential, different approaches to IT disaster recovery and how to tailor a solution to suit an organisation’s risk management objectives and budget.

This talk will provide an overview of the new legal framework for data security regulation, covering the Information Commissioner's new enforcement powers and rules for breach notification.
