Accounting Software Forum - Overview

18 October 2006 at the RSA, London.

Designed for charities with up to £2m Income, this day brings together users and suppliers of key accounting software packages.

With a view to raising awareness and sharing information on accounting software packages, we want to encourage an objective dialogue about accounting software, its current use within small and medium charities and its development potential to meet user requirements in the future.

The Programme

Specific sessions will look at Sage, Quickbooks and Sun Accounts, the most widely used packages in this part of the sector. Furthermore, David Carter, one of the leading UK experts in Excel, will discuss the use of this software package as a stand-alone tool or analysis tool in one of the sessions.

Further charity speakers will talk through their actual experience and day-to-day use of the most common packages. Suppliers will share their view of their packages's benefits and development plans, but the focus of the day is on discussion, practice and effectiveness. If you do use one of these packages yourself, this is an excellent opportunity to discuss your experience and issues with colleagues and the suppliers.

If you use a different software package, do attend too - you can bring a different view and experience to our discussion and use the day to learn about other systems and learn about how other charities make their supplier-relationships work.

Although focusing on three of the most widely used accounting packages, the day will be open to explore different packages used, as the focus will be on charities' experience and requirements. The event focuses on an exchange of information and discussion, and is a rather informal, and not sales-focused setting, which we hope finance staff from charities up to £2m income and their advisers will find useful and informative.
